The first time I set foot in San Sebastian, I tried to imagine a place here for the joyful journey. But nothing felt like this was the perfect location for it. I fell in love with the place, and the idea of setting out one of my joyful journey artworks in San Sebastian, Donostia, started to grow on me. The promenade along the Concha beach, with the Belle-époque lampposts, was exactly where I wanted to set the artwork celebrating New beginnings in San Sebastián. A place instantly recognisable and a symbol of the city.

It is still early in the morning on Easter Monday; the sky is still very low, with fog mounting over the sea. She’s there, ready to make this moment very special. She chooses San Sebastián as the place where she will start again, move on from the past, and embrace who she is. She made herself the promise to walk along the Atlantic Ocean and let her hair loose. This is her moment

This art print is part of a fine art photography series called The Joyful Journey that celebrates New Beginnings

As an artist, I strive to capture moments that inspire and empower, and this print is a testament to that goal. The woman in the image represents the joy and freedom that come with letting go of inhibitions and dancing to the beat of your own drum. When I created this abstract piece, I wanted to transport the viewer to the enchanting atmosphere of Venice, where every corner holds the promise of a new beginning.

Each artwork in this series features a different European city: Paris, Florence, Strasbourg, Venice, Amsterdam, London, Prague, Berlin, San Sebastián, highlighting the unique opportunity each destination offers.

How do I care for my print?

  • Don’t hang your print in direct sunlight.
  • Prints can dent easily when handled, especially larger size prints, so take it directly to the framer.
  • Use only archive grade tapes and glues for mounting & framing.
  • Handle your print as little as possible and with care. Ideally wear special gloves.
  • Prints sent in tubes should be taken out and framed as soon as possible.
  • Avoid touching the print surface
  • Don’t store prints in humid or damp places.
  • Never allow liquids of any kind to come in contact with a print.
  • Only acid-free, archival materials should come in contact with the front/back of the print
  • Never allow prints to rub against one another in transit or storage. Always use archival plastic sleeves or acid-free tissue paper between prints
  • Use acid-free matt boards and UV glass or plexiglass for longevity. Framing under glass or acrylic provides the greatest protection against UV-induced fading.
